Ayikoi Otoo

Nii Ayikoi Otoo is a lawyer and New Patriotic Party figure who was Attorney-General and Minister for Justice under President Kufuor, and later Ghana's High Commissioner to Canada. He was born at Mamprobi in Accra.

He went to Ebenezer Secondary School and Fijai Secondary School, entered the University of Ghana in 1976 to read law and was called to the bar in 1981. He spent more than twenty years at Adamafio and Associates before setting up Otoo and Associates, Leo Chambers, in Accra. He was secretary and then president of the Greater Accra Regional Bar from 1998 to 2001 and served with Nana Akufo-Addo on the national council of the Ghana Bar Association, and he has appeared in many cases reported in the Ghana Law Reports.

He succeeded Papa Owusu-Ankomah as Attorney-General in 2005 and was replaced by Joe Ghartey in a reshuffle in April 2006. He chaired the NPP's constitutional committee, and in 2011 Ga-Adangbe youth petitioned the party to make him Akufo-Addo's running mate. He was High Commissioner to Canada from 2017 to 2021, and in 2022 he became board chairman of GLICO. He entered the race for NPP national chairman that year but withdrew days before the vote. He is married to Patricia Otoo and has six children.
