George Emmanuel Kwesi Aikins

George Emmanuel Kwesi Aikins was a lawyer who served as Attorney-General and PNDC Secretary for Justice from 1982 to 1988 and later sat on the Supreme Court of Ghana. He was born on 2 September 1923 and died on 17 April 2013.

He joined the civil service as a clerk in 1949 and studied part-time, and was among the first nine students enrolled as lawyers from the Ghana School of Law, on 22 June 1963. He joined the Attorney-General's department that year and rose to chief state attorney by 1976. He advised the National House of Chiefs and sat on the Police Council and the Prisons Service Board.

The PNDC appointed him Secretary for Justice and Attorney-General in 1982, in succession to Archibald Djabatey, and he held the post until 1988. He was then appointed to the Supreme Court and retired in 1998. He was married with seven children.
